Nicknamed the Swedish Meatball, Mathias moved to California at 17 and established himself as a heavy hitter on the Vert ramp. He has been competing since 1994, and even after spending five years recovering from various injuries, he has proven to be a top competitor. Currently living in Encinitas, he is co-owner of RDS Skate Shop. In his spare time, Mathias builds furniture in his wood shop, and runs a company called Mindtwister USA.
Mathias has a cutting edge technical style that has pushed the sport of Vert forward. In 2006 he placed 5th in the Action Sports World Tour, and in 2005 he placed 4th at the Tampa Pro and 6th in the LG Action Sports World Championships. In 2003, Mathias took 3rd in the Global X Games and 4th in the Tampa Pro, and in 2002 he placed 6th in the Summer X Games and 1st in the Euro X. Mathias is known for his determination, hard work, and inability to give up.
